Class at Vamsi Gopal Temple - Oct Grades 11 and 12 had their evening class on the roof of the Vamsi Gopal Temple in Vrindavan, the first temple Srila Prabhupada stayed in. Their teacher, Vinod Bihari Das, read the section of the Lilamrita describing the early times of Prabhupada in Vrindavan.
Prabhupada Disciple Teaches Lilamrita – Dec Laxmimoni Dasi, USA, taught a 10 hour course on the life of Srila Prabhupada to High School Grades 9 and 10. The students thoroughly enjoyed her presentation. She plans to continue being involved in the school, and will lead the staff through some of their Bhakti Sastri studies.
Students Handwrite Bhagavad-gita – Dec This wonderful project began about a week before Gita Jayanti. Every student from Class 1 – 8 wrote at least one verse, both the Sanskrit and the English translation. The verses were written on index cards which were then displayed in the school’s central garden. You can read more about this on dandavats.com
Highschool Recites the whole Bhagavad-gita – Dec This recitation took over 2 hours, and was held in the early evening in the central garden. The Bhagavad-gita was projected on a screen so guests could join in.
Chairman of the Vrindavan Municipality visits Gurukula – Dec Mrs. Puspha Sharma, Chairman of the Vrindavan Municapal Corporation was the guest speaker at the Gita Jayanti Festival. She was very enthused about the spiritual atmosphere in the school and said she would like her grandson to attend such a school. One of her main concerns is improving the cleanliness in Vrindavan, and she remarked in her speech how clean and beautiful our campus was.
30 mrdangas at Radha Vallabha Temple, Vrindavan – Dec Under the direction of Sriman Bablu Prabhu, our 30 mrdanga kirtan group played for the pleasure of Radha Vallabha in Vrindavan. It wasn’t long before a crowd gathered and between each section of the mrdanga performance, student’s read verses from the Bhagavad-gita.
Bal Mela Opens with Gurukula Boys – Nov Our 30 mrdanga ensemble was invited to participate in the opening ceremony of the Vrindavan Bal Mela. Many schools were present for the occaision.
High School Students Support Human Rights – Nov High school students joined a march in New Delhi to protest the demolition of houses in the devotee community in Kazakistan. Afterwards they visited the Glory of India Vedic Expo at the ISKCON temple in New Delhi.
How Geese Fly – A Seminar - Nov This seminar was delivered as part of our staff enrichment program. Visiting devotee from Malaysia, HG Tyaga Caitanya Prabhu, an experienced motivational speaker, led us through an exercise and discussion on improving teamwork.
Sesa Das, GBC, Addresses Student Body – Oct Sesa Das, Lawyer and ISKCON GBC for the school, was visiting us from the USA. He addressed the students at the final first semester program. He each one of us can make a difference and even if it seems like a small thing – it can grow
